UMMAM

How You Can Help

UMMAM is funded through state and federal grants and donations from local churches, organizations and individuals. Many organizations also provide volunteers to stock our food and clothing pantries, as well as help with children's programs and other activities. Without the generous assistance from our donors and volunteers, UMMAM would not be able to answer the needs of so many in Southwest Kansas. There are many ways individuals and groups can help us fulfill our mission of providing social, spiritual, educational and health services to those in need.

Donations to UMMAM are eligible for Federal Income Tax Credit for charitable contributions designated as a 501 (c) 3 by the Internal Revenue Service. You may send your contributions to our office:

Your gifts help us help others...

One family that we recently helped was a young family consisting of a father, mother and four children who were living in a motel, just trying to get by.

I went to visit this family at the motel where they were staying. When I arrived, I was greeted at the door by four children with the cutest smiles. But they were truly hungry and wanted to know if, perhaps, I had anything with me for them to eat.

I saw their eyes light up when they looked at all the groceries I had brought. I also saw the tears of relief and gratitude of the mother who had no food to feed her children.

As I left, a child gave me the biggest hug and said, "Thank you." I hugged him back with a big lump in my throat and a tear in my eye.
